Lillian Osborne Catchment Feb 18th PD Day
We are excited to be able to gather together as a catchment for a morning of learning in support of meeting the diverse needs of our students across our schools, Division and in the greater community.

The Lillian Osborne Catchment is pleased to offer a half day of learning in support of our Catchment Goals:

Goal #1 By June 2024, all students will demonstrate growth in literacy, numeracy and mathematics. Professional learning opportunities will be provided for all staff to build efficacy and implement high-quality instructional and assessment practices across the curriculum. Students who require additional time and support will receive interventions and enrichment opportunities.

Goal #2 By June 2024, all staff will take intentional steps to implement a comprehensive catchment-wide approach focused on meeting the diverse needs of students. Staff will actively engage in strategies to create welcoming, caring, respectful, safe and inclusive learning and working environments.

Supporting EAL Students in Content Area Classes with the help of Assistive Technology - Room 122
Tuesday February 18, 2025 9:55am - 10:40am MST
As educators, we recognize that each EAL student in our classroom brings a unique background and set of skills. Our students' proficiency in English ranges widely; some may have minimal familiarity with the language, while others may already have a substantial understanding. In this presentation, I aim to introduce various technological tools designed to assist EAL students of differing English proficiency levels. These tools are intended to help teachers deliver curriculum in a way that honor’s the student’s ability. I present this information from the perspective of an inclusive classroom setting, rather than a sheltered setting as we do not have sheltered classes at LO.

Supporting immigrant and refugee children and youth enrolled in K-12 schools - Room 219
Tuesday February 18, 2025 9:55am - 10:40am MST
My core program is called "Settlement Workers in Schools'' or SWIS; my program emphasizes supporting immigrant and refugee children and youth enrolled in K-12 schools. This can be achieved in many different ways-- language support, cultural literacy for educators, community events, etc.,-- but we are always happy to promote this work and its benefits for students, school staff, and families.
